Seagate Announces 16TB Exos Drives in SATA and SAS
Seagate is pioneering HAMR (heat-assisted magnetic recording) technology for future hard drive capacity expansion and has announced that the world's first 16TB hard drive in 3.5" FF is production ready now.
The 16TB Drive will be Exos Enterprise drive, available in both SATA and SAS interface ( with 4K native and 512e). Access the data sheet here, which doesn't specify the use of HAMR technology, but we are betting its a HAMR drive, given that they shipped the world's first 16TB last year to select datacenters using HAMR technology.
